In this article, I'll highlight a computer network, its structure, types, and components. I will explain what types of devices are used, who operates the network environment, how a network is organized and technically maintained, and what is involved in solving network problems. A computer network is a situation where all computers, laptops, printers, scanners, tablets and all other devices are connected together in a workgroup or server environment. A workgroup environment is a network where all computers and devices work independently of each other, meaning that all computers have an individual state but are connected to each other. In this environment, storage and printers can be shared. In this type of network, only several users can access files at the same time. There are mainly three sizes of networks, small, medium and business network environments. Computer devices on a network are usually connected by wire or Wi-Fi through routers and switches. A router is a device used to link devices together. A router has multiple client ports to connect computers in a LAN environment. There is one wan connection port that can be used to connect the router to another router or to an ISP modem. A router has many functions. it can be configured for static or dynamic IP addresses or it can be used as a firewall A switch is a device that can be used mostly in the same way as a router, but with limited functionality, such as assigning static IP addresses to connected devices. There are different types of networks LAN, PAN, MAN and WAN.
The main purpose of a network is to be able to use the workforce and share resources in an office or corporate environment. In a server-based environment, users use client computers to connect to the server and to store and share various resources such as files, printers, applications, scanners, and data. A network environment is also useful for communications such as messages and emails. Exchange server is used for email storage where all users from CEO to employee benefit from the email system. An exchange server stores all email data related to users and email senders. Another important use of a network is data storage. All users are registered on the server. They have folder pockets where their personal information can be kept. Each user has specific permissions to data folders on the server. Administrators set things up for network users. They give them specific permissions so that one user cannot access another user's data. This is done in various ways that are allowed by the server's operating system. The server authenticates users before accessing the server environment. In this way it is a safe working environment. Users at all levels can access and use other tools such as printing documents, copying and scanning important correspondence. Server also offers users VPN benefits.
A network usually consists of hardware and software. Software includes operating systems on client devices, on servers, tablets, application software installed on servers, and client firmware on router devices, printers and scanners, any input or output, and any other disk devices. The people who take care of software or hardware problems are called administrators and support people. They are the first line of communication when it comes to solving basic problems. Advanced assistance, especially hardware support, requires experienced technical support professionals. Network administrators and support people are usually technically well trained and bring extensive knowledge as they need to support the network which is the main platform for running business operations. If a network goes down, users and employees cannot work or do their daily work.
There are many technical terms and steps used in solving computer challenges.
