One of Croatia’s striker at the on-going world cup in Russia has been sent home from the World Cup after he refused to come from the bench for Saturday's game against Nigeria. The unruly conduct of Nikola Kalinic, a striker for the national team of Croatia was considered an act of indiscipline by the team handlers,
The coach who was not impressed by Kalinic's behaviour considers this a serious threat to the teams sense of discipline in their campaign efforts at the world cup in Russia  decided to send him homeimmediately. Kalinic was conspicuously absent as his Croatian teammates  trained at their St. Petersburg base on Sunday for their second Group match against Argentina. Croatia eventually won their first  game 2-0 against Nigeria, after own goal by  Nigeria's Etebo's in the first half and  which Luka Modric sealed for victory in the second half following a penalty kick. The victory placed  them at  the summit of the group standing, because their rivals could only manage a one all draw between  Argentina and Iceland.
Nikola Kalinic was on the bench for the game against Nigeria and the Croatian coach Zlatko Dalic asked him to come to the final stage of Group D in Kaliningrad, but he refused.
It is reported, however, that the attacker refused to say that he had a problem with his back. The plan was to substitute Kalinic for Mandzukic, and when he refused but the coach had to bring in Marko Pjaca, a wide player, to replace Mandzukic.
It seems that the decision has been taken to defeat the AC Milan striker with Kalinic, who reportedly takes the first flight back home from Russia this week.
The outcome of this is that Mandzukic is now the only recognized striker in the Croatian team.
